Send Packing Slips Electronically to Help with Social Distancing

A typical pharmacy process may involve equipping couriers with the totes of medications as well as either the physical packing slip or handheld device that requires a signature upon arrival. In light of our current situation and requirements for social distancing, a modification to the delivery process may be worthy of consideration for the safety of all involved.

Sending packing slips to the facility electronically can help to reduce passing of paper between your pharmacy, courier, and facility. Here is a quick outline of the process for FrameworkLTC pharmacies that do or do not utilize FrameworkECM:

Packing slips in FrameworkECM

Pharmacies with FrameworkECM can print the packaging slip from FrameworkLTC into FrameworkECM and then fax or email the unsigned copy directly to the facility.

The nurse or facility contact can receive and acknowledge the orders as soon as they are delivered, then fax the signed packing slip back to the pharmacy.

FrameworkECM is able to automatically reconcile the packing slip copies together and associate the patients orders back to FrameworkLTC.

Don’t have FrameworkECM?

In FrameworkLTC, print the packing slip as a PDF, email it to the facility, and ask that they email/fax the signed copy back to you upon receipt and approval.

Enter the “received by” information (recipient and date/time), as well as any packing slip comments or notes within FrameworkLTC. This information would be logged as a part of the prescriptions workflow.
