Reducing Database Size to Increase Performance of RxPertise

Our support team is occasionally contacted by clients who are experiencing slow performance in RxPertise Standard during an import, statistics generation, or while creating a backup. Upon review, we sometimes find that a single and very large database is in use to store all facility data. Depending on the functionality of the laptop in use, the need to sift through large amounts of data to perform these tasks can greatly increase the time required.

3 Tips to Reduce Database Size for Increased Performance of RxPertise:

1. Break up large databases:

Consider using Import/Export to break up a large database into several databases with fewer Care Centers. This will also result in smaller backup files which may be easily transferred to share with colleagues. You can find more information by pressing F1 in RxPertise and choosing ‘Import/Export’ > ‘Procedure of Import/Export’ in the RxPertise Help File.

2. Utilize an active and backup database:

Consulting data and medication orders accumulated over several years will certainly increase the size of a database. RxPertise provides the ability to copy your most recent data into a new active database, while still allowing you to retain your older data in a backup file for later access if needed. You can find more information by pressing F1 in RxPertise and choosing ‘Import/Export’ Using Import/Export for Purging of Old Records’ in the RxPertise Help File.

3. Remove unused databases:

The removal of your old and unused databases will also help to improve the overall performance of RxPertise. You can quickly and easily delete unused databases from the File Menu in the Main Window of the program. (Never delete or move RxPertise databases using Windows Explorer or any other file management program). To find out more information about deleting your unused databases, press F1 in RxPertise and choose ‘General Principles’ > ‘Deleting a Database’ in the RxPertise Help File.
