Meet SoftWriters' Team Member Ryan Huber

Hello Ryan! How would you describe your role at SoftWriters?

My role is pretty simple.  If there’s any question/issue/problem that’s SQL Server or database related, it’s my job to make sure it gets answered/fixed. That responsibility runs the gamut from making sure all development of any database code is done well to standing up infrastructure for our testing team to QA our product to helping customers and answering questions on how they can get the most out of their SQL Server installation to giving presentations on best practices at conferences.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is educating others on SQL Server.  When I see someone struggling with something that’s taking a lot of time, or is just plain difficult, and there’s some kind of functionality in SQL Server that I can show them that makes it immensely easier, and they look at me and say “oh man…that’s awesome…this way is so much better”, I get a very good feeling!

What is your favorite functionality in any of our products?

I really like FrameworkPOD. Giving customers the ability to track a Rx all the way from their doors to their customers’ doors is pretty cool.

What do you do for fun?

There’s not too much that sets me apart from most of the people at SoftWriters.  I’m just a typical PA boy who raises his kids with his wife, fixes stuff on his house and car, and when I can find a little bit of time, go out to the woods to hunt in the fall/spring or golf very poorly in the summer.

Check out Ryan’s blog series that he co-wrote with Rick Magill on Database 101!

Ryan won SoftWriters’ Q4 Star Award, being recognized for his regular contributions to initiatives across our customer base.

His poise and expertise has allowed him to identify and resolve database performance issues across some of our most sophisticated customers. In addition, he led a critical project that was flawlessly executed with less than 30 days notice. He does this while maintaining a positive “can-do” attitude! Congratulations and thanks for your hard work, Ryan!

About the Star Award: SoftWriters has a program called the SoftWriters Star Award. Each quarter, the company recognizes one hard working individual who is going above and beyond in their role at SoftWriters and demonstrates one of our core values. Though we have an entire team of hardworking individuals we are thrilled to honor Ryan with this award for Q4 2018: SoftWriters Core Value: Customers Determine Our Success; One Team, Family Spirit.
